Kaiser Permanente (2) project summary

On August 26, 2020, RAC emailed Kaiser Permanente Member Services about the noncompliant slopes (4.1%) of five APSs outside the front entrance to the Reston facility.
Allan Aziz, Medical Center Manager, enthusiastically followed up, secured a contractor for improving the five spaces, and also, on his own initiative, for several other APSs on the property.  As of July 6, 2021, the new APSs meet ADA slope requirements of a maximum of 2% in all directions.
The contractor replaced the original asphalt with concrete “to ensure they remain compliant.”  RAC has seen that process used in its Hunters Woods Elementary School and Herndon High School projects.  The contractor also added accessible route striping behind the APSs.
RAC is most grateful for KP’s ready and willing response to this critical accessibility issue!  Please see the following photos.
